Exchanging knit to crochet

 

Zig Zag Lace

Learn to exchange this knit pattern to crochet

Shown here is a knit lace pattern quite suitable for edges of pillow slips, towels or scarf ends.  It is a lacy and rather open design.  Any desired thread may be used; use size of knitting needles to correspond to weight of thread.

Abbreviations: K (knit); p (purl); tog (together); YO (yarn over); sts (stitches).

Cast on 29 sts.
Row 1: K 29.

Row 2: K 3, YO, k 3 tog, YO, k 2, k 2 tog, YO twice, k 2 tog, k 1, k 2 tog (YO, k 2 tog) 4 times,  YO, k 3, YO twice: k 2 tog, k 1.

Row 3: K 3, p 1, k 16, p 1, k 9.

Row 4: K 3, YO, k 3 tog, YO, k 7, k 2 tog, (YO, k 2 tog) 5 times, k 2, YO twice, k 2 tog, k 1 (30 sts).

Row 5: K 3, p 1, k 26.

Row 6: K 3, YO, k 3 tog, YO, (k 2 tog, YO twice, k2tog) twice, k 1, (o k 2 tog) 4 times, YO,  k 4, YO twice, k tog, k 1 (32 sts).

Row 7: K 3, p 1, k 16, p 1, k 3, p 1, k 7.
Row 8: K 3, YO, k 3 tog, YO, k 10, (YO, k 2 tog) 5 times, k 3, YO twice, k 2 tog, k 1 (33 sts).

Row 9: K 3, p 1, k 29.

If lace is to be joined, as for pillow slips, weave ends together with needle and end of thread left after binding off.
