These directions are for small size (32-34). Changes for medium size (36-38), large size (40-42) and extra large size (44-46) are in parentheses.

MATERIALS
BERNAT BLARNEYSPUN (50 g balls) -- 16(17-18-20)   ( 75 yards per ball)

OR ANY EQUIVALENT KNITTING WORSTED WEIGHT YARN THAT WILL GIVE THE SPECIFIED STITCH GAUGE

1 pair each BERNAT-Aero straight knitting needles Nos. 4 and 7 (3.50 mm and 4.50 mm) OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES THAT WILL GIVE THE SPECIFIED STITCH GAUGE

1 set BERNAT-Aero dp needles No. 4 (3.50 mm)

Repeat these 36 rows for pattern stitch for back and front.

NOTE: When working k 1, p 1 in ribbing, always k in BACK of each k st.

BACK: Using smaller straight needles, cast on 92 (102-112-122) sts. K 1, p 1 in ribbing for 3(3, 3 ½-3½) inches. 

Change to larger needles and work even in pattern st until piece measures 15½ (15 ½-16-16) inches, ending with a wrong side Row. 

SHAPE FULL-FASHIONED RAGLAN ARMHOLES: 

At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 2(2-3-4) sts. 

Row 3: K 2, k 2 tog, work in pattern as established to last 4 sts, sl 1, k 1, psso, k 2. 

Row 4: K 3, work in pattern as established to last 3 sts, k 3. Repeat the last 2 rows 23(26-27-27) times more, ending with Row 4 -- 40(44-50-58) sts. 

Then repeat Row 3 ONLY 6(6-8-10) times. Sl remaining 28(32-3438) sts onto a holder.

FRONT: Work to correspond to back until 50 (54-58-64) sts remain, ending with a right side Row. 

SHAPE NECK: K 3, work next 16(16-1718) sts, sl center 12(16-18-22) sts onto a holder, join another ball of yarn and work to last 3 sts, k 3. Working on both sides at once, continue to dec 1 st at arm edge in same manner as before every other Row 5(5-4-3) times more then EVERY ROW 6(6-8-10) times, and AT THE SAME TIME, at each neck edge dec 1 st every other Row 5 times then EVERY ROW 3 times. Fasten off.

Row 3: K 3(3-4-4), * (p 2, k 2) 3 times, (k, p, k in next st; p 3 tog) twice, k 2 *, repeat between · 's once, (p 2, k 2) twice, p 2, k 3(3-4-4).


Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
Row 5: Repeat Row 1.


Row 6: K 1, p 2(2-3-3), * work FRONT CABLE on next 6 sts, p 2, k 2, p 12 *, repeat between · 's once, work FRONT CABLE on next 6 sts, p 2, k 2, p 2(2-3-3), k 1.

Row 36: K 1, p 2(2-3-3), * k 2, p 2, work FRONT CABLE on next 6 sts, p 12 *, repeat between *'s once, k 2, p 2, work FRONT CABLE on next 6 sts, p 2(2-3-3), k 1.


Repeat these 36 rows for pattern stitch for sleeves.

SLEEVES: Using smaller straight needles, cast on 50(50-52-52) sts. K 1, p 1 in ribbing for 3 ( 3-3 ½-3 ½) inches. 

Change to larger needles and k the next Row, inc at even intervals to 60(6062-62) sts. 

Work even in pattern st for sleeves for 2 inches. 

On the next Row inc 1 st each end of needle and repeat this inc every 2(1-1-¾) inches 5(8-11-14) times more, forming new patterns as sts are inc. 

Work even in pattern as established on 72(78-86-92) sts until piece measures 18(18 ½-19-19 ½)inches, ending with a wrong side Row. 

SHAPE  FULL FASHIONED RAGLAN CAP: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 2(2-3-4) sts. Dec in same manner as on back. Sl remaining 8 sts onto a holder.

FINISHING: Sew sleeves to back and front armholes. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. 

NECKBAND: With right side facing you, using dp needles, pick up and k 90(94-98-106) sts around neck edge, including sts from holders. 

K 1, p 1 in ribbing for 3 inches. Bind off loosely in ribbing. Fold neckband in half and hem to wrong side.
