Sweater Blouse with Lace Trim  Sizes 6 and 8

 

Needles--1 pair of Bone needles

No. 2 and 4, American Standard

Materials--4 one ounce balls, 3 ply yarn.

Gauge—7 ½ sts to 1 inch. 

Back With No. 2 needles, cast on 90 sts (96 sts, size 8),

K 1, P 1 for 2 inches.

Change to No. 4 needles,

K 1 Row,

P 1 Row for 9½ inches (10 inches, size 8), from start.

Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows,

K 2 tog at beg of the next 8 rows (74 sts).

Work even for 5½ inches, (6 inches, size 8), measuring straight up from where the 4 sts were bound off.

Bind off 7 sts at beg of the next 6 rows, bind off remaining 32 sts for back of neck.

Front--Work to correspond to hack until you have 10 sts off for each underarm instead of 8.

Work even until armhole measures 2½ inches from the 4 bound off sts.

K 35, put remaining 35 sts on st holder.

On these 35 sts work for 2 more inches.

Bind off 9 sts at beg of next row at neck edge, then K 2 tog at beg of every row at neck edge, until 21 sts remain.

Bind off 7 sts at beg of shoulder edge, 3 times. Work other side to correspond.

Sleeves--With No. 2 needles, cast on 54 sts, (58 sts, size 8), K 1 st, P1 st for 1 ½ inches.

Change to No. 4 needles, K l Row, P I Row, and inc 1 st in every 7th st across first K Row, 61 sts.

* Work ½ inch even, inc 1 st on each end, repeat from *until sleeve measures 3 ½ inches from beg (69 sts).

Work ½ inch even or desired length to underarm.

Bind off 4 sts at beg of the next 2 rows.

K 2 tog at beg and end of the next 3 K rows (55 sts).

Now K 2 tog at beg and end of every 4th row, until you have 43 sts.

K 2 tog at beg and end of every row, 6 times, bind off remaining sts.

Finishing---Sew shoulder seams. Sew up side seams and sleeve seams, insert into armhole, having a little fullness at top of sleeve.

Starting at right shoulder seam, sc around neck and front opening, skipping about 5 sts across back of neck.

To start frill: Make a ch *draw up a loop ¼ inch, work 1 s c thru back strand of elongated loop just made, repeat from *once, skip 2 s c, s c into next st. Repeat between *around (make a ch 4 loop on right corner at neck edge for buttonhole, sew small flat button on left corner on wrong side of sweater).

Row 2--Work 2 extra elongated loops to start 2nd Row, s c in center of knot
