Exchanging knit to crochet

Instructions are for size 6. Changes for sizes 8, 10, 12 and 14 are in (  ) . 

Materials (2oz. skeins)-7 (7-8-8-9) Natural,  2 Charcoal Gray; 

Sizes 9 and 11  knitting needles or size for gauge, size 9 circular needle. 

Gauge: Ribbing (unstretched) 5 sts = 1", slightly stretched 15 sts = 4". 9 rows = 2". 

Finished chest measurements   27½ (29½ - 31½ - 33 - 35). 

Note: Garment is worked entirely in (k 1, p 1 ribbing).

Back:  With Gray and smaller needles cast on 52 (56-60-62-66) sts. Work as follows; 2 rows Gray, 2 rows Natural 4 times. Change to larger needles. Cont with Natural until piece measures 7 (7½-8¼-9-9¾)", ending with a wrong-side Row. 

Work 6 rows Gray, 2 Natural, 6 Gray, cont in Natural until piece measures 10¾ (11½-12¼-13-13¾)" or desired length to armhole, ending with a wrong-side Row. 

Shape Raglan Armhole: Bind off 5 sts beg next 2 rows.

Next Row: K 2, sl next 2 sts as if to K, insert tip of left-hand needle through front of these 2 sts, knit them tog in this position - SSK; work in ribbing to within last 4 sts, k 2 tog, K 2. 

Next Row; K 1, p 2, work in ribbing to within last 3 sts, p 2, k 1. Repeat last 2 rows 12 (13-14-15-16) times more; bind off rem'g 16 (18-20-20-22) sts. 

Front: Work as for Back until piece measures ½" less than Back to underarm, ending with a wrong-side Row. 

Divide for V-Neck: Work 26 (28-30-31-33) sts, place rem'g 26 (28-30-31-33) sts on a holder. Work 3 rows in ribbing. 

Shape Raglan Armhole as on Back. AT SAME TIME, Shape Neck as follows: Dec 1 st at neck edge on next row, then on following 2nd row. [Dec 1 st at neck edge on 4th then following 2nd row] twice more.

Dec 1 st at neck edge every 2nd row 1 (2-3-34) times - 1 st. Fasten off.

Right side facing, place sts from holder onto needle; attach yarn at neck edge.

Complete as for other side, reversing shaping. 

Sleeve: With Gray and smaller needles, cast on 28 (30-32-34-36) sts. Work [2 rows Gray, 2 rows Natural] 3 times. Change to larger needles, cont, in Natural, inc'g 4 sts evenly on next Row. Inc 1 st each end every 8th Row 4 times - 40 (42-44-4648) sts. Work even until piece measures 11½ (12½ -13½ -14½ -15½) or desired length to underarm, ending with a wrong-side row. 

Shape Raglan Cap: Bind off 5 sts beg next 2 rows. 

Next Row: K 2, SSK, work to within 4 sts from end, k 2 tog, k2. 

Next Row: K 1, p 2  work ribbing to within last 3 sts, p 2. k 1. 

Repeat last 2 rows 11 (12-13-14-15) more times 

Next Row: K 1, SSK, k 2 tog, k 1. Bind off rem'g 4 sts. 

Finishing: Sew raglan seams. Right side facing, with circular needles and Gray starting at right side of  V, pick up 87 (91-95-99-103) sts around neck; do not join. Work in ribbing for 1¼ " bind off in ribbing.

Crossing right side over left, sew ends of neck band in place. Sew side and sleeve seams. Block to measurements.
