Sleeveless Sweater   exchange to crochet       

Directions are for size Small with changes for Medium) and (Large) in parentheses.

Finished garment measures approximately 34, (40), (45) Inches.

 MATERIALS: 11, (12), (12) 50 gram balls mohair yarn.

knitting needles size 5 and 7 or size required for gauge.

 GAUGE; (Worked in pattern) - Moss panel (5 stitches), Cable panel (14 stitches), and Moss panel (5 stitches) - TOTAL of 24 stitches = 4 Inches.

 STITCHES:

Moss Stitch; Worked on odd number of stitches; * knit 1, Purl 1, repeat from * across.

Stockinette Stitch: Right side: Knit; Wrong side; Purl

Reverse Stockinette; Right side: Purl; Wrong side: Knit

 BACK; Cast on 80 (96), (108) stitches with smaller needles.

Work Knit 1, Purl 1 ribbing for 2 inches.

 Change to larger needles.

Knit 1 Row (wrong side), increasing 22, (25), (28) stitches evenly spaced for a total of 102. (121), (136) stitches.

Row 1; (Right side) - Sl 1, work 5 (5). (3) moss stitches, 5 Reverse stockinette, 4 stockinette stitches, 5 Reverse stockinette, 5 moss stitches * Repeat between * 4, (5), (6) more times, ending last repeat with 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, slip 1. work 5, (6), (7) cable panels and 6, (7), (6) moss stitch panels.

 Row 2; and all WRONG SIDE Rows: Work stitches as established, maintaining moss and cable panels.

 Row  3; Sl 1, work 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, * 4 Reverse stockinette, 6 stockinette stitches, 4 Reverse stockinette stitches. 5 moss stitches *. Repeat between  *  4, (5), (6) more times, ending with 5. (5), (3) moss stitches, sl 1.

 Row  5: Slip 1, work 5, (5), (3) moss stitches. * 3 Reverse stockinette, 8 stockinette stitches, 3 Reverse stockinette,  5 moss stitches * Repeat between  *  4, (5), (6) more times, ending with 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, slip 1.

 Row  7: Slip 1, work 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, * 2 Reverse stockinette, 10 stockinette stitches, 2 Reverse stockinette,  5 moss stitches *. Repeat between *  4, (5), (6) more times, ending with 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, slip 1.

 Row  9: Slip 1, work 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, * 1 Reverse stockinette, 12 stockinette stitches, 1 Reverse stockinette, 5  moss stitches. *  Repeat between  *` 4, (5), (6) more times, ending with 5 (5), (3) moss stitches, slip 1

 Row 11; Slip 1, work 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, * 14 Stockinette stitches, 5 Moss stitches.*  Repeat between  * 4, (5),  (6) more times, ending with 5, (5). (3) moss stitches, slip 1.

 Row 13: Slip 1, work 5 (5), (3) moss stitches,  * slip next 7 stitches onto cable holder, and hold in back, knit next 7 stitches, knit 7 stitches from holder, 5 moss stitches.  * Repeat between * 4 (5), (6) more times, ending with 5, (5), (3) moss stitches, slip 1.

 Continue working pattern as established: 5 (6), (7) cables with moss stitch panels between cables on both ends.

Work Cable Row every 14th row (always on right side).

There will be no more Reverse stockinette. Cable panel will be worked in stockinette stitch. When piece measures 21, (22), (23) inches, bind off.

 FRONT: Work same as back until piece measures 19. (20) (21) inches.

Maintaining pattern, work across 36, (41), (46) stitches. Join second ball of yarn and bind off next 30, (39), (44) stitches.

Continue in pattern on last 36, (41), (46) stitches working each side separately at the same time, bind off at neckline edge EVERY OTHER ROW 4 times.

 FIRST ROW; Bind off 5 stitches at neck edge on each side.

 SECOND Row: Bind off 4 stitches each side, third row, 3 stitches, fourth row, 2 stitches.

Work even on 22, (21). (32) stitches until piece measures 21, (22), (23) Inches.

Bind off.

 FINISHING; Sew back to front at one shoulder. Pick up approximately 150. (165), (175) stitches evenly spaced along neckline. (The number of stitches is not as Important as the spacing of the stitches.)

Work 6 rows Reverse stockinette with Purl rows on right side. Bind off.

 Sew other shoulder seam and side seams. Roll collar to outside, with tapestry needle and yarn, sew collar down by weaving yarn in and out over collar every two inches.
