Reversible Tunic

SIZES: Directions are for size small. Changes for size medium and size large are in parentheses. If only one number appears, it applies to all sizes.
MATERIALS: cotton sport weight yarn,
2.5 oz. balls,
4 (4-5) balls MAIN COLOR (MC) -
1 Ball COLOR (A)
1 (1 -2) balls COLOR (B)
1 ball COLOR (C)
One pair each size 10 and 17 knitting needles OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE. Size N crochet hook. 6 buttons.
NOTE- TO INSURE PROPER FIT, BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.-
MEASUREMENTS AT UNDERARM: 38 (42 46)"
GAUGE: 2 sts = 1" in pat.
NOTE: ENTIRE GARMENT IS WORKED WITH DOU13LE STRAND OF YARN.
GARMENT IS WORKED SIDEWAYS.
PATERN:
Row 1 (WS): MC, # 17 needles, K.
Row 2: MC, # 17 needles, *Kl, pl; rep from *.
Row 3: A, # 10 needles, K across Row wrapping yam 2 times around needle in each st.
Row 4: A, # 10 needles, P across Row dropping extra wraps.
Rows 5 and 6; Repeat rows 1 and 2.
Rows 7 and 8: With B and # 10 needles, rep rows 3 and 4.
Rows 9 and 10: With MC and # 17 needles rep rows 1 and 2.
Rows 11 and 12: With C and # 10 needles, rep rows 3 and 4.
Repeat rows 1-12 for complete pat.
BACK: With # 17 needle and MC beg at side edge, cast on 48 sts.
Beg pat with Row 1 (WS) and work even for 19 (21 23)", end with MC, Row 2.
Bind off.
FRONT: Work same as back.
FINISHING: Matching colors at shoulders, sew front to back at side seams, leaving a 10" opening for armholes and a 3 ½ " opening for side vents.
With hook and MC work 1 Row sc around upper and lower openings.
Mark each shoulder on front for 3 buttons, placing the first one 1" in from side edge and spacing the other 2, 2" apart.
On back, work 3 chain button loops to correspond to markers,
NOTE: Either side can be the right side out.
