Pocket Book Slippers

This is a quick and easy pattern for slippers that is good for using up left over yarn.
Use 4 ply worsted or sayelle.
2 oz. on #7 needles makes 1 pair.
Cast on 5 stitches. Knit 6 rows.
Increase on 2nd stitch of next 17 rows. (22 sts. now on needle)
Increase in every st. of next Row. (44sts. now on needle)
Knit 2, purl 2 for 6 inches (34 rows)
Knit 2 together across next Row (22 sts. now on needle)
Decrease in 2nd st. at beginning of each Row until 5 stitches on needle.
Knit 6 rows- cast off.
Make loop for buttonhole by chaining 4-6 sts.- tassel optional.
Sew up sides- sew on buttons.
(you can also allow for a buttonhole when knitting the 6 rows.)
