Cast on 5 stitches. Knit 6 rows.

Increase on 2nd stitch of next 17 rows. (22 sts. now on needle)

Increase in every st. of next Row. (44sts. now on needle)

Knit 2, purl 2 for 6 inches (34 rows)

Knit 2 together across next Row (22 sts. now on needle)

Decrease in 2nd st. at beginning of each Row until 5 stitches on needle.

Knit 6 rows- cast off.

Make loop for buttonhole by chaining 4-6 sts.- tassel optional.

Sew up sides- sew on buttons.

(you can also allow for a buttonhole when knitting the 6 rows.)
