- 1 Color A
- 2 Color B
- 3 Color C
- 4 Color D
FOR ONE COLOR SHAWL
(Bulky weight) Bernatkrysta (2 oz. skeins) - 10
1 BERNAT-Aero circular knitting needle No. 11 (Canadian Needle No. 1) OR ANY SIZE NEEDLE THAT WI LL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW
GAUGE
3 sts = 1 inch 6 rows or 3 garter st ridges = 1 inch
Starting at center neck edge, using Color A, cast on 15 sts.
Note First 5 and last 5 stitches are for the border.
Row 1: K 5 (border), put a marker on needle, y o, K 2 tog, y o, put a marker on needle, K 1, put a marker on needle, y o, K 2 tog, y o, put a marker on needle, K 5 (border).
Rows 2, 4 and 6: Knit.
Row 3: K 5, y o, K 3, y o, K 1, y o, K 3, y 0, K 5.
Row 5: K to first marker, slip marker y o, K to 2nd marker, slip marker y o, K 1, y o, sl 3rd marker, K to 4th marker, slip marker y o, K to end of Row.
Repeat the last 2 rows until there are 19 ridges at each end of needle, ending with Row 6.
Break off Color A. Join Color B and repeat Rows 5 and 6 until there are 17 Color B ridges at each end of needle, ending with Row 6.
Break off Color B. Join Color C and repeat Rows 5 and 6 until there are 17 Color C ridges at each end of needle, ending with Row 6.
Break off Color C. Join Color D and repeat Rows 5 and 6 until there are 17 Color D ridges at each end of needle, ending with Row 6.
Bind off loosely as if to K. Seam cast on sts tog at center.
FOR ONE COLOR SHAWL: Using color desired, work in same manner, omitting striping pattern.
