GAUGE INSTRUCTIONS . . . IMPORTANT

The stitch gauge which appears at the beginning of all instructions for knitting and crocheting is very important to the size and fit of your garment.

Before starting your work make a sample swatch of the pattern stitch with the needles or hook and yarn specified.  If you get more stitches to the inch than gauge calls for, you are working tightly, therefore change to larger size needles or hook. if you get fewer stitches to the inch you are working loosely, therefore change to smaller size needles or hook. it is very important to check your gauge as you progress, to assure yourself of a perfectly sized garment.

WASHING INSTRUCTIONS

Dip garment in and out of lukewarm water in which a good soap or soap flakes have been dissolved.  Squeeze gently while doing.  Rinse thoroughly with clear water.  Roll in towel and gently squeeze out excess moisture.  Remove from towel and ease garment to original shape and size. Dry flat-not near radiators nor direct heat.
