Knitted Stump Sock

Using 4-ply yarn and 16" size 10 circular needle, cast on 80 stitches. (You can also use a set of 4 double-pointed needles. Or pattern can be adapted to knit on straight needles and sew the seam afterwards.) Sock will be about 13" long.

K2, P2 for 3 inches. 

Knit around until about 10" long. 

Then start decreasing.

1. K8, k2 tog, repeat around – 72 st.

2. Knit around.

3. K7, k2 tog. – 64 st.

4. Knit around.

5. K6, k2 tog. – 56 st.

6. Knit around.

7. K5, k2 tog. – 48 st.

8. Knit around.

9. K4, k2 tog. – 40 st.

10. Knit around.

11. K3, k2 tog. – 32 st. (If using circular needle, change to double pointed needles about here.)

12. Knit around

13. K2, k2 tog, – 24 st.

14. Knit around,

15. K1, k2 tog,. – 16 st.

16. Knit around.

Cut yarn leaving a 12" length. Thread through stitches, draw together, and fasten securely.
