Knitted Stump Sock

Using 4-ply yarn and 16" size 10 circular needle, cast on 80 stitches. (You can also use a set of 4 double-pointed needles. Or pattern can be adapted to knit on straight needles and sew the seam afterwards.) Sock will be about 13" long.
K2, P2 for 3 inches.
Knit around until about 10" long.
Then start decreasing.
1. K8, k2 tog, repeat around 72 st.
2. Knit around.
3. K7, k2 tog. 64 st.
4. Knit around.
5. K6, k2 tog. 56 st.
6. Knit around.
7. K5, k2 tog. 48 st.
8. Knit around.
9. K4, k2 tog. 40 st.
10. Knit around.
11. K3, k2 tog. 32 st. (If using circular needle, change to double pointed needles about here.)
12. Knit around
13. K2, k2 tog, 24 st.
14. Knit around,
15. K1, k2 tog,. 16 st.
16. Knit around.
Cut yarn leaving a 12" length. Thread through stitches, draw together, and fasten securely.
