Baby Booties and Leg Warmers

Sport Wt yarn---# 3.25 or U.S 3 & # 3.75 or #5

With # 3,cast on 35 sts.
1st Row; k1 *p1, k1, Rep from* to end.

2nd Row; p1.*k1, p1, Rep from* to end

Rep these 2 rows until rib measures 2½ inches.

Next Row; (make eyelet holes).  Rib 3, * yn fwd. k2 tog, rib 2,  Rep from* to end.

Work 2 more rows in rib.

Change to # 5 & rib 1 Row.

Shape Instep; 1st Row; k 23, turn.

2nd Row, P11, turn.

Work 14 rows on these 11 sts (k1 row, p1 row repete). Break yarn.

Rejoin yarn at point of rt hand needle & pick up & knit 10 sts from first side of   instep, k11 from needle, pick up & k10 from second side of instep & k to end (55sts) work 9 rows garter st.

Shape toe
1st Row; k1, k2tog, k19, k2tog, k7, k2togbl, k19, k2togtbl, k1.

2nd & every alt Row; P

3rd Row; k1, k2tog, k18, k2tog, k5, k2togtbl, k18, k2togtbl, k1.

5th Row; k1, k2tog, k17, k2tog, k3, k2togtbl, k17, k2togtbl, k1.

6th Row; P
Cast off.

Join back & underfoot seam.

Make twisted cords using 3 strands 16-18" long (or crochet a chain).

Thread through eyelet holes.

      Crochet Booties

Sport Wt & hook size E (4)
Starting at lower edge of cuff, ch 30 to measure 6".
Join with sl st to form ring, 1st rnd; Ch1,sc in each ch around--30 sc. Join. Ch 4 turn.

2nd rnd; Make dc, ch1, dc, then skip 1st , 2sc, in next sc make (dc ch1) twice, dc --shell
made . * skip next 2 sc, dc in 2nd skipped sc--another cross st. made ; skip next sc, shell in next sc .

Rep from* to last 4 sc, skip next sc, cross st over next 2 sc, skip last sc. Join to 3rd ch of ch 4. Ch 1 Turn.

Next 4 rnds; Sl St between the dc of first cross st, ch 4, in same place make dc, ch1, dc; *
cross st over next shell, shell over next cross st.. Rep  from* around, ending with cross st
over last shell. Break off .

Instep; With rt side facing & working along opposite side of starting ch, skip 1st 11 ch.
Attach yarn to next ch,  ch1, sc in same place & in next 7 ch--8sc. Ch1 turn.

Next 7 rows. Sc in each of the 8 sc. Ch 1 turn. at end of last row, break off & fasten

Foot;
1st rnd ; With rt side facing, attach yarn to first ch of starting ch, ch1, sc in same place & in next 10 sc, make 9 sc along rt side of instep, 8 sc along last row of instep, 9 sc along other side of in step, sc in each remaining ch of starting ch.--48 sc. Join. Ch1 Turn.

Next 3 rnds. Sc in each sc around Join Ch 1 Turn

Heel & toe shaping.
1st rnd ; Ch1 , sc in first 2 sc, skip next sc, sc in next 15 sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next
sc, sc in 6 sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next 15 sc , skip next sc, sc in last 2sc. Join--42 sc. Ch 1,turn.

2nd rnd; Sc in each sc around. Join. Ch1, turn.

3rd rnd; Sc in 1st 2 sc, skip next sc,sc in next 13 sc, skip next sc,sc in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next 4 sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next sc, sc in next 13 sc, skip next sc, sc in last 2 sc, join--36 . Ch1 turn.

4th rnd; Rep 2nd rnd.

5th rnd; Sc in 1st 2 sc, skip next sc, sc in next 11 sc, skip next sc, sc in next sc, skip next sc, sc in 2sc, skip next sc, sc in sc, skip next sc, sc in 11 sc, skip next sc, sc in last 2sc. Join.

Break off & fasten  sew sole seam.

Lace an 18 " ribbon through or crochet a chain  & put thru lower edge of cuff & tie in bow .
 
 

                                Leg Warmers

Sport wt.  #3  & # 6
Cast on 33 with # 3 . Work ¾ " in k1 p1 rib, ending with rt side facing & increase 1 st in
center of last Row.

Change to # 6 & work  2 rows st st.

 Then K 2 rows .

Work in stocking st until measures 4½ ", ending rt  side facing.

K 2 rows.

Beginning with a k row, work 2 rows st st, decreasing 1 st in center of last row (33sts).

 Change to # 3 & work 1 ¼ " in K1, P1 rib.

With # 6 cast off in ribbing.
