Size 6 months
MATERIALS:
BERNAT Super Baby Wool 4 pull skeins of 1 oz. each.

1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 3 and 6.

1 steel crochet hook No. 2

GAUGE: 7 sts = 1 inch & 5 sts = 1 inch.

12 rows or 6 ridges = 1 inch on No. 3 needles
9 rows or 4½ ridges = 1 inch on No. 6 needles

SACQUE BODY: Using No. 3 needles, cast on 70 sts.

Row 1: K 15 sts, put a marker on needle, K 5, put a marker on needle, K 30, put a marker on needle, K 5, put a marker on needle, K 15.

Row 2: K to 1 st before first marker, inc 1 st in each of the next 2 sts, * K to 1 st before next marker, inc 1 st in each of the next 2 sts, repeat from * twice more, K to end of Row - 8 sts inc.

Row 3: K all sts.  Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until there are 230 sts.

DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Change to No. 6 needle, K to first marker and put these 35 sts on a holder for right front, K across the next 45 sts and put these sts on another holder for right sleeve, K across the next 70 sts and put these sts on another holder for back, K across the next 45 sts of left sleeve, put remaining 35 sts of left front on another holder.

LEFT SLEEVE: Working on 45 sts, K 1 Row, dec 10 sts at even intervals. 

Work even in garter st on 35 sts until sleeve measures 5½ inches. 

Change to No. 3 needles and work in garter st for 1 inch. Bind off.

RIGHT SLEEVE: Slip 45 sts of right sleeve from holder on No. 6 needles and work to correspond with left sleeve.

RIGHT FRONT: Slip 35 sts of right front on No. 6 needles. 

K 1 Row, dec 10 sts at even intervals. 

Work even in garter st on 25 sts until piece measures 4½ inches. 

Change to No. 3 needles and K 1 Row, inc 10 sts at even intervals.  

Work even in garter st on 35 sts until piece measures 5½ inches.  Bind off.

LEFT FRONT: Slip 35 sts of left front on No. 6 needles and work to correspond with right front.

BACK: Slip 70 sts of back to No. 6 needles.

K 1 Row, dec 20 sts at even intervals. 

Work even in garter st on 50 sts until piece measures 4½ inches.

Change to No. 3 needles and K 1 Row, inc 20 sts at even intervals. 

Work even in garter st on 70 sts until piece measures 5½ inches.  Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew underarm and sleeve seams.

COLLAR: Using No. 3 needles, with right side facing you pick up 70 sts around neck.

Row 1: * K 1, inc 1 st in next st, repeat from * to end of row - 105 sts.

Work even in garter until piece measures 2 inches. 

Bind off. Block. 

Work 1 row sc around all edges. 

Make a twisted cord and trim ends with pompoms.  Sew to sacque under collar.

BONNET Using No. 3 needles, cast on 7 sts.

Row 1: Knit.

Row 2: Knit, inc 1 st in each st - 7 sts inc.

Row 3 and all uneven rows: Knit.

Row 4: * K 1, inc 1 st in next st, repeat from * - 7 sts inc.

Row 6: * K 2, inc 1 st in next st, repeat from * - 7 sts inc.

Row 8: * K 3, inc 1 st in next st, repeat from * - 7 sts inc.

Continue to inc 7 sts in this manner every other row, having 1 st more between each inc until there are 84 sts.

Change to No. 6 needles and dec 24 sts at even intervals across row. 

Work even in garter st on 60 sts until piece measures 5½ inches.

Change to No. 3 needles and inc 24 sts at even intervals.

Work even in garter st on 84 sts until piece measures 7½ inches.  Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew center back for 3 inches.  Turn back cuff for 1½ inches and tack in place.

NECKBAND: Using No. 3 needles, with right side facing you pick up 50 sts on back of cap. 

Work even in garter st for ½ inch. 

Bind off. Block. 

Work 1 row sc on back and cuff of cap. 

Make twisted cord and sew to cap.  Trim with pompoms.

BOOTEES SOLE: Using No. 3 needles, cast on 7 sts.

Work even in garter st until piece measures 3 inches.  Bind off.

TOP: Using No. 3 needles, cast on 42 sts. 

Work in garter st until piece measures 1 inch.  

Beading: * K 3, y a, K 2 tog, repeat from * 3 times more, K 4, * * y o, K 2 tog, K 3,  repeat from ** to end of row.

K 2 rows even.

SHAPE INSTEP: K 17 sts and put these sts on a holder, K 8 sts, put last 17 sts on another holder. 

Work even on 8 sts for 1 inch.

SHAPE FOOT: K 8 sts, pick up 7 sts along one side of instep, K 17 sts from holder onto same needle - 32 sts. 

Work back across these 32 sts, pick up 7 sts along other side of instep, K 17 sts from other holder onto same needle -56 sts.

Change to No. 6 needles and work even in garter st for 6 rows.

Change to No. 3 needles and work even in garter st for 6 rows.  Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew center back seam.  Weave sole and foot tog.

Block.  Make a twisted cord and pull through beading. 

Trim with Pompoms. 

Work 1 row sc around top of bootee.
