Dog's Cabled Jacket

SIZE: Width across shoulder. 8" length of back, 14".

MATERIALS: Fleisher's Win-Knit, 4 oz. and Super Mohair, 2 0zs. (worsted weight).

Knitting needles No.7, or size required to knit to gauge.

GAUGE:4 STS AND 6 ROWS = 1" (STOCKINETTE st worked with one strand of each yarn held together.)

NOTE: Entire sweater is worked with one strand each of Win-Knit and Super Mohair. Or your choice of yarns.

BACK: Cast on 32 sts. K 4 rows for garter st border.

Work in pat as follows.

ROW 1: (right side): K 4 place marker, K2, P2 (K4,P2) 3 times, K 2 place marker, K 4. 

ROW 2: K 4, carry up marker, p 2, k 2, (p 4 , k 2) 3 times, p 2 , carry up marker, K 4. ( Note: Carry markers up each Row.) 

Next Row: K 4, K 2, P 2, sl next 2 sts to dp needle and hold in front of work, K next 2 sts, k sts from dp needle (cable twist made); p 2, K 4 p 2 cable twist, p 2 , k 2, k 4. 

NEXT 7 ROWS: Repeat Rows 2 and 1 alternately. Continue to work in this manner working cable twists every 8th Row until 4" from beg.

Next Row: Inc 1 st after first marker and before last marker. Keeping 4 sts at each end in garter st and inc sts in stockinette st (k on right side p on wrong side), and the remainder of sts in pat, repeat inc Row every other Row 8 times more---50 sts. 

Work even until 10" from beg, end wrong side.

SHAPE ARMHOLES: k4 dec 1 st. work to last 6 sts, dec 1 st. K 4. 

NEXT ROW: work even, repeat last 2 rows 8 times more--32 sts. Work until 14" from beg, end wrong side. Place sts on holder.

FRONT: Cast on 23 sts. Work in K 1, p 1 ribbing for 8".

Cast on 3 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Join sts on back and continue in ribbing across all sts for collar.

Bind off in ribbing.

FINISHING: Sew back and from last inc up to first dec. Sew collar seam a right side, then turn collar over.

Press lightly.
