Abbreviations

Exchanging knit to crochet

Crochet Triangular shawl 

Shawl takes about eight 250-yard balls Coats and Clark's Knit-Cro-Sheen in ecru.  

Use steel crochet hook size 1 or size needed for gauge. 

  Front points, not back, are shown in photograph.

 Abbreviations: 
ch (chain) tr (treble)
sc (single crochet) Sp (space)
dc (double crochet) inc (increase)
sl st (slip stitch) 

Gauge: 5 Sps equal 3 inches 4 Rows equal 1 ½  inches 

NOTE: Use 2 strands throughout.

Starting at center back, ch 7, dc in 7th ch from hook, ch 5, do not turn.

Foundation Row:
Sc over bar of dc, ch 2, dc in same place as last dc was made-2 small sps made, ch 7, turn.

Pattern-Row 1: Dc in top of dc of last Row, ch 3, in third ch of ch 5 (dc, ch 3, tr)-3 large sps, ch 5, turn.

Row 2: Sc in first sp, (ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, sc in next sp) twice, ch2, dc in 4th ch of ch 7 of previous Row-6 small sps, ch 7, turn.

Row 3: Dc in dc of last Row-1 sp inc at beginning of Row, ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 3) twice, in third ch of ch 5 (dc, ch 3,inc at end of Row-5 large sps, tr)-l sp ch 5, turn.

Row 4: Sc in first sp, ch 2, (dc in next, ch 2, sc in next sp, ch 2) repeated across, end with sc in next to last sp, ch 2, dc in next dc, ch 2, sc in last sp, ch 1, dc in 4th ch of ch 7 of previous Row-10 small sps, ch 7. turn.

Row 5: (Dc, ch 3, dc) in dc-2 sps inc at beginning of Row, ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 3) repeated across, ending with (dc, ch 3) twice and tr in third ch of ch 5 - 2 sps inc at end of Row-9 large sps, ch 5,turn.

Row 6: Repeat Row 4-18 small sps.

Row 7: Dc in dc-1 sp inc, ch 3, (dc in next dc, ch 3) repeated across, end with (dc, ch 3 and tr) in third ch of ch 5-1 sp inc-11 large sps, ch 5, turn.

Row 8: Repeat Row 4-22 small sps.

Row 9: Repeat Row 7-13 large sps.

Repeat rows 4 through 9 for pattern.

Work in pattern until there are 101 sps. Work even until piece measures 29 or desired inches through center, end with odd number Row, ch 4, do not turn.

Border: Working along side edge, in first sp (dc, ch 1) 3 times, sc in end sp of next Row, ch 1, * in end sp of following Row (dc, ch 1) 5 times, sc in end sp of next Row, ch 1, repeat from * to point, in loop at point (dc, ch 1) 7 times, work along opposite side in same way, making (dc, ch 1) 7 times in next corner, then work along top edge in same way, ending with 
(dc, ch 1) 3 times in next corner sp (beginning of Row), join with sl st to third ch of ch 4, fasten off.
Press lightly through damp cloth.
