Tea Cup And Saucer

Finished sizes:

Tea cup is 2" high. Saucer is 5" across

Materials

200 yds. White size 10 crochet cotton thread

10’ blue 1/8" satin ribbon

No. 9 steel hook or hook needed to obtain gauge

 

Gauge

Rows 1 to 3 = 1 ½ "

Tea cup

Starting at the bottom of the cup and working up. 

Rnd 1:; ch 6 join with slip st in first ch to form ring, ch 4 (dc in ring, ch 1) 7 times, join with slip st in third ch of ch 4.(8 dc made)

Rnd 2: slip st in ch sp, ch 4, dc in same sp, ch 1, * (dc, ch1, dc, ch1) in next ch sp; repeat from * around, join as before.

Rnd 3: slip st in ch sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, 3 dc in each sp around, join.

Rnd 4: slip st in sp between ch 3 and dc, ch 3,(dc in sp between next 2 dc) around, join

Rnd 5: ch 3, dc in same st, ch 2, (skip 2 dc, dc in next dc, ch 2)( around, join

Rnd 6 slip st across to ch sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, ch 1, (3 dc in next ch sp, ch 1) around join

Rnd 7 sl st across to middle dc of next 3 dc group, ch 3, 2 dc in same st, ch 2, sc in next ch sp, ch 2 (3 dc in middle dc of next 3 dc group, ch 2, sc in next ch sp, ch 2)around, join

Rnd 8 sl st across to middle dc of next 3 dc group, ch 3 (dc,ch1,2dc) in same st,*(2 dc,ch1,2dc)in middle dc of next 3 dc group; repeat from * around, join

Rnd 9 sl st across to ch 1 sp, ch 3, 3dc in same sp, 4 dc in each ch 1 sp around, join fasten off

Bottom

Rnd 1: Hold top upside down; working between sts of rnd 4, join with sl st in top of any dc on rnd 3, ch 3, (dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in same st, skip 3 dc, *(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next st, skip 3 dc; repeat from * around, join.

Rnd 2: sl st across to ch sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, 3 dc in each ch sp around, join fasten off

Handle

Ch 26, dc in fourth ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off.

Saucer

Rnds 1-3: repeat rnds 1-3 of teacup

Rnd 4 ch 3, dc in each dc around, join

Rnd 5 ch 3,dc in same st, ch 4, skip 3 sts, (2dc in next st, ch 4, skip 3 sts) around, join.

Row 6: sl st across to ch 3, ch 3, (dc, ch2, 2dc, ch1)in same sp, (2dc, ch2, 2dc,ch1) in each ch sp around, join

Row 7:  sl st across to ch 2 sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same st, ch 2, sc in next ch 1 sp. Ch 2 (5 dc in next ch 2 sp, ch 2, sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 2) around, join

Row 8:  sl st into next st, ch 3, dc in each of the next 3 dc holding back 1st 3 lps of each dc on hook, yo, pull through all lps on hook, ch 1 to secure, ch 6 more, *skip 1 dc, dc in each of next 4 dc holding back last 2 lps of each dc on hook, yo, pull through all lps on hook, ch 1 to secure, ch 6 more: repeat from * around join

Rnd 9; sl st in next ch sp, (sc, hdc, 2dc, 4tr, 2dc, hdc, sc) in same sp and in each ch sp around, join

Rnd 10 sl st across to first tr, ch 1, sc in same tr, sc in next 3 tr, ch6, (sc in each of next 4 tr, ch 6) around, join. Fasten off.

Finishing

  1. sew handle to side of teacup.
  2. stiffen and shape tea cup and saucer and hanging loop to edge of saucer. Sew or glue teacup to center of saucer.
