LILY FROST - TONE MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Art. 49: 3 cones White and 2 cones Turquoise; or

LILY SKY-TONE MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Art. 123-N: 4 balls each of White and a color; or LILY GLO-TONE MERCERIZED CROCHET COTTON, Art. 42: 7 balls each White and a color.   No. 10 Steel Crochet Hook.
SIZE - 42 x 42 inches.

Work tightly for best results. MOTIF (2 ½ inches across diagonal corners) Starting in center with White, ch 8, join with sl st to form ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 4, sl st in last dc for a p, (5 dc in ring, a p) 3 times, 2 dc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch-3.

Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, (ch 13, 2 dc in center dc between next 2 ps) 3 times, ch 13, join to top of ch-3.

Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next dc, * ch 1, (1 hdc, 2 dc, a p, 3 dc) in half of next lp, (3 dc, p, 3 dc) in one lp of 7th (center) st of same lp, (3 dc, p, 2 dc, 1 hdc) in bal. of lp, ch 1, * * sc in next 2 dc.  Repeat from * around ending at **, join to lst sc.  Cut 7 inches long, thread to a needle and fasten off on back. 2d MOTIF: Repeat to pat tip of lst corner.

RND 3. Instead of p, ch 2, sl st in a corner p on lst MOTIF, ch 2, sl st back in last sc (joining-p made).  Complete RND and fasten off.

Make 16 Motifs, joining them in a straight Row by diagonally opposite corners. 

Make a 2d Row, joining to each other and to top corners of Motifs in lst Row. 

Continue thru 16 rows (256 Motifs).

FILL-IN MOTIF: Starting in center with Turquoise, ch 6, join with sl st to form ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join with sl st in lst sc.

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc, (ch 5, sc in next sc) 7 times, ch 2, join with dc in lst sc.

Rnd 3: * Ch 4, (sc, ch 5, sc) in next lp; repeat from * around.

Rnd 4: SI st in lst 2 ch of next ch-4 lp, sc in same lp, 1 hdc and 2 dc in half of next ch-5 lp, ch 2 and joining in an opening between any 4 White Motifs, sl st in Ist p on side of one Motif, ch 2, 2 dc and 1 hde back in bal. of ch-5 lp sc in next ch-4 lp, * 1 hdc and 2 dc in next lp: ch 2, sl st in next p on same White Motif, ch 2, 2 dc and 1 hdc back in bal. of ch-5 lp, sc in next ch-4 lp, 1 hdc and 2 dc in next lp, ch 2, sl st in lst p on side of next White Motif, ch 2, 2 dc and 1 hdc back in bal. of lp, sc in next ch-4 lp. Repeat from * around, completing joining to 8 ps on the 4 White Motifs. 

Fasten off as for White Motifs. 

Join a FILL-IN MOTIF in each opening between White Motifs (225 FILL-IN MOTIFS). Stretch and pin Tea Cloth right-side-down in a true square.  Steam and press dry thru a doubled cloth.
