Santa Bank 
This crocheted Santa bank is a great way to save ahead for Christmas. You will need 1 skein each Jockey Red, Pink and White Coats & Clarks 4 ply hand knitting yarn (available in 3 ½ ounce skeins),
size H crochet hook (or size required to obtain given gauge),
two ¾ inch diameter blue buttons for eyes,
a cotton ball to stuff nose and a 1 pound coffee can.
Gauge: 9 sc equal 2 inches.
TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
FACE: Beginning at bottom with red, ch 6, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Work 12 sc in ring, join.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, *sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around, join - 18 sc.
Rnd 3: Repeat Rnd 2 - 27 sc.
Rnd 4: Ch 1, *sc in 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around, join - 33 sc.
Rnd 5: Ch 1, *sc in 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around, join - 39 sc
Rnd 6: Ch 1, *sc in 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc, repeat from * around, join - 45 sc
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join.
Rnds 8 through 17: Repeat Rnd 7. A end of last rnd, fasten off.
Rnds 18 through 30: Join pink, repeat Rnd 7.
Rnd 31: (Loop Rnd) Ch 5, *sk 4 sc, sc in next sc, repeat from * around, end ch 5, join, fasten off.
Tie: With pink, ch 60, fasten off. Draw tie through loop rnd.
FACE DETAILS:
Beard: With white, ch 6, join with s st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 4, work 18 tr in ring, join with sl st to first tr.
Rnd 2: *Ch 5, sc in next tr, repeat from * around, join.
Row 3: (Ch 5, sc in next lp) 9 times, fasten off.
Fold beard in half with longer edge, formed by Row 3, to the back.
Sew in place from underneath side.
Nose:
With pink, ch 4, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in ring, join.
Rnd 2: Work in sc, inc 6 sc evenly spaced around, join - 14 sc.
Rnd 3: sc in each sc around, join.
Rnd 4: *sc in sc, dec 1 sc, repeat from * around, fasten off leaving a 5 inch yarn length.
Stuff nose with cotton. With yarn end draw last rnd of nose together, then sew to face as shown in photograph.
Eyes:
Sew eyes in place above nose. Place Santa cover over coffee can. Draw ties at top together and tie.
HAT:
With white, ch 47. Being careful not to twist ch, join with sl st to form ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in each ch around, join - 47 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join.
Rnds 3, 4: Repeat Rnd 2.
Rnd 5: Working in front lps only, repeat Rnd 2. (Note: Red will later be worked in back lps.)
Rnd 6: Working through both lps, sc evenly around, join. Brim of hat is now complete.
Fasten off white.
Rnd 5: (Section 2) Join red in back lp of Rnd 5, sc evenly around, join.
Rnds 6, 7: Work even in sc, join.
Rnd 8: Dec 5 sc evenly spaced around, join - 42 sc.
Rnds 9 through 11: Repeat Rnd 8 -27 sc.
Rnds 12 through 14: Dec 3 sc evenly spaced around - 18 sc.
Rnds 15 through 17: Work even in sc.
Rnds 18 through 24: Dec 2 sc evenly spaced around - 4 sc. Fasten off.
Pompom:
Wind white around 1 ½ inch cardboard 25 times. Tie one edge securely; cut opposite edge.
Fluff pompom. Sew in place on top of hat.
Tack end of hat down as shown in photograph.
Place hat on Santa can.
