Place mates and Coaster Set

Place mat measures approximately 14 " high x 19" wide.

Coasters measures 5½" across.

Aunt Lydia's " Denim " thread. U.S. crochet hooks: 1-9 (I'm using H)

Amount: 1 ball each #1002-Milk CA and # 1021-Linen CB will make 2 sets.

PLACEMATES

With CA ch 19.

Rnd. 1: 4 Dc in 4th ch from hook, dc in next 14 ch. 5 dc in last ch, working on

opposite side of beg ch, dc in next 14 sts, join with a sl st to top of ch 3. = 38 sts.

Rnd. 2: Ch 3, dc in same ch as joining, (2 dc in next dc) 4 times, dc in next 14 dc,

(2 dc in next dc) 5 times, dc om mext 14 dc, join = 48 sts.

Rnd. 3: Ch 3, dc in same ch as joining, (2 dc in next dc) 9 times, dc in next 14 dc,

(2 dc in next dc) 10 times, dc in next 14 dc, join = 68 dc.

Rnd. 4: Ch 1, (sc, ch4, sc) all in the same ch joining, skip next dc * (sc, ch 4, sc)

all in next dc, skip next dc; rep around from * around, join with a sl st to first sc.

Rnd. 5: Sl st into sp, ch 1,* (sc, ch 4, sc) all in sp, rep from * around, join.

Rnd. 6 and 7: Rep. Rnd 5.

Rnd 8: Sl st into sp, ch 1, 3 sc in sp, * (ch 2, 3 sc in next sp) 9 times, dc 2

(2 sc in next sp) 7 times, ch 2 **, 3 sc in next sp, rep from * to **; join.

Rnd. 9: Ch 3, skip first sc, dc in next 2 sc, * (3 dc in next sp, dc in next 3 sc) 9 times, 3 dc in next sp, dc in next 14 sc, 3 dc in next sp **, dc in next 3 sc; rep from * to **, join.

Rnds. 10 and 11: ch 3, dc in each dc around; join. Fasten off.

Rnd. 12: Attach CB in same ch as joining. Ch 1, (sc, ch4, sc) all in same ch, skip next dc, *,(sc, ch 4, sc)all in next dc, skip next dc; rep from *, around, join to first sc.

Rnds, 13-15: Rep rnd. 5. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

COASTER

Rnd. 1: With CA ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook, join with a sl st to

top of ch-3. = 12 sts.

Rnd.2: Ch 3, dc in same ch as joining, (2 dc in next dc)11 times, join = 24 sc.

Rnd.3: Ch 3, (2 dc in next dc) twice, * om next dc. (2 dc in next dc) twice;

rep from * around, join. = 40 sts. Fasten off.

Rnd.4: Attach CB in same ch as joining. Ch 1 (sc, ch 4, sc) all in same ch, skip next dc, ( sc, ch4, sc) all in next dc, skip next dc; rep from *, around; join to first sc.

Rnd. 5; Sl st into sp, ch 1* (sc, ch 4, sc ) all in sp; rep from * around, join.

Fasten off.  Weave in ends.
