  Mater1al; worsted-we1ght yarn -16 oz each red and wh1te, 10 oz royal blue,
2 oz antique gold for fringe.

S1ze H Susan Bates crochet hook or s1ze for gauge: yarn needle.
Gauge: 11 sc = 3"; 4sc rows = l"

To make: W1th red, ch 228.

ROW 1; sc 1n 2nd ch from hook and 1n each sc across, ch 1 and turn on this and every Row -227 sc. Work 10 more rows sc with red. * Work 11 rows sc, in white. 11 rows sc in red. Repeat from * for stripe pattern. Work unt1l 6 stripes have been completed ending w1th a white stripe.

NEXT ROW; Work 127 sc in red, 100 sc in royal blue.
Continue in stripe pattern, working 100 sc in royal blue until 13 stripes have
been completed fasten off.

EDGING: With antique gold, sc around entire edge, working 3 sc in each
corner. Cut 5 ½ " length of antique gold. Fold a length in half, from wrong
side, insert crochet hook through any sc on edge. Draw fold of yarn through
st, pull ends through loop and tighten. Repeat in each sc around.

STAR (make 13): With white, ch 4;  join with sl st to form a ring.

RND 1; Ch 3, work 14 dc 1n ring, join with sl st to top of ch-3.

RND 2; *ch 6, sc in 3d ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch and tr in each ch, skip 2 dc on ring, sl st in next dc; repeat from * 4 times; fasten off. Arrange stars on blue rectangle as in photograph; sew in place with white yarn.
