MATERIALS

Bulky weight yarn

Size XS / XL = 9 balls (50 g / 1.75 oz).

Sizes 2xl / 5xl = 14 balls (50 g / 1.75 oz).

Size 9 mm (US 13) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge 9 sts and 13 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

INSTRUCTIONS: Make alike.

Note: Pieces are worked from top down.

Collar: Cast on 33 (41) sts.

1st Row: k1, * p1, k1. Rep from * to end of Row. Rep this Row of seed st 5 times more, Inc 1 (5) sts evenly across last Row 34 (46) sts.

Yoke:

1 st Row: (RS). Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. K1.

2 nd Row: Purl.

Rep last 2 rows 5 times more. 46 (58) Sts.

Body

1 st Row: (RS). K1. * K2tog (yfwd) twice. Sl 1, K1, Passo. Rep from * to last st. K1.

2 nd Row: P1, * P1. K1. P2. Rep from * to last st. P1.

3 rd Row: Inc 1 st in first st. Knit to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st, K1.

4 th Row: Inc 1 st in first st. Purl to last 2 sts. Inc 1 st in next st. P1.

These 4 rows form Lace pattern and side inc's.

Rep last 4 rows 15 (17) times more 110 (130) sts.

Next Row: (RS) k1, * k2tog. (yfwd) twice. Sl 1, K1, passo. Rep from * to last st. K1.

MATERIALS 2 balls (50 g / 1.75 oz) Bulky weight yarn. 1 each color MC and CC for both knit and crochet version.

Knit Version: Size 8 mm (U S 11) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge.

Crochet Version: 6. 5 mm (U S K or 10 ½) crochet hook or Size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE

Knit Version: 10 sts and 14 rows = 4 ins [10 cm] in stocking st.

Crochet Version: 8 dc and 5 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].

 

INSTRUCTIONS Knit Version

With MC, cast on 42 sts.

1st Row: (WS) Knit

2nd Row: K 1, * k2 tog. (yfwd) twice. Sl 1. K1. passo. Rep from * to last st. K1.

3rd Row: P1. * P1. K1. P2. Rep from * to last st. P1.

4th Row: K3. *K2tog. (yfwd) twice. Sl 1. K1. passo. Rep from * to last 3 sts. K3.

5th Row: P3 * p1. k1. p2. Rep from * to last 2 sts. P3.Rep last 4 rows once more. than 2 nd to 4 th rows once more.

Shape top: 1st Row: (WS) P2 * P2tog. P1, K1. P3 K1. Rep from * to end of Row. 36 sts.

2nd and alt rows: K1, * K2tog. (yfwd) twice, Sl 1, k1. passo. Rep from * to last 3 or 0 sts. K 3 or K0.

3rd Row: P2, * P2tog, purl across 5 sts, working (k1, p1) over (yfwd) twice. Rep from * to end of Row. 30 sts.

5th Row: P2, * P2tog. Purl across 4 sts working (K 1, p1) over (yfwd) twice. Rep from * to end of Row. 24 sts.

7th Row: P2 * P2tog. Purl across 3 sts, working (K 1, P1) over (yfwd) twice Rep from * to end of Row 18 sts Break yarn leaving a long end.

Thread yard through rem sts and draw up tightly. Fasten securely. Sew back seam.

 

Flower

With A cast on 3 sts.

1st Row: Knit

2nd Row: (Inc 1 st in next st) 3 times. 6 sts.

3rd and 4th rows: * (K 1, P1, K 1) all in next st Rep from * end of Row. 54 sts at end of 4 th Row.

Knit 2 rows. Cast off knitwise.

Sew side seam. With WS of work facing, thread yarn through sts of 2 nd Row, Pull tightly gather and wind several times around gathered sts. Sew Flower to side of hat

 

 

Crochet Version

With MC, Ch 50. Join with Sl st to first Ch, being careful not to twist Ch.

1 st rnd; Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as Sl st. 1 sc in each Ch around. Join with Sl st to first sc. 50

Rep last Row of pattern until work from beg measures 4 ins [10cm].

Next rnd; Ch 3(counts as dc). * Miss next Ch -1 sp. 1 dc in next dc. Rep from * around. Miss last Ch -1 sp. Join with Sl st to top of Ch 3. 25 dc.
