SIZES: Child's small (medium - large).
Garment measurement around underarms about 24(26-28)".(See Note, below on additional sizes.)
MATERIAL: Knitting worsted weight yarn (3.5 oz. skeins)-2(3-3) skeins turquoise (MC) and 1 (1-1) skein rose (CC).
Crochet book size F (G-H), OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE. Yarn needle.
GAUGE: Each square measures 3 (3 ¼ -3 ½ ) ".
NOTE: Additional sizes can be made by adding rounds to the granny square.
Measure your completed square and multiply by eight to calculate the finished chest measurement.
GRANNY SQUARES: Make 54. With CC, ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3, work 2 dc in ring, * ch 1, 3 dc in ring; repeat from * twice more, end ch 1, join with sl st to top of starting ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: Join MC in any ch-1 space, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same corner ch-1 space, ch 1, * (3 dc,ch 3, 3 dc) in next corner ch-1 space, ch 1; repeat from * twice more, join with sl st to third ch of starting ch-3.
Rnd 3: Work 1 sl st in each of next 2 dc, 1 sl st in next ch-3 space, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch-3 space, * ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-3 space; repeat from * twice more, end ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, sl st in third ch of starting ch-3. Fasten off.
FINISHING: Sew squares together in a four- by slx-square arrangement for both front and back. Sew a stripe of three squares for each sleeve. Sew side seams of front and back together, leaving seam open for one and one-half squares at top on each side for armholes and one full square open at bottom on each side for side slits. Sew three-quarters of one side of square at top right and top left edges together, front and back, to form shoulder. Fold the stripe of three squares in half and fit to armhole. Sew in place. Sew underarm seam
Edging.- With CC, work 2 rnds of sc around neckline, sleeve ends and bottom of dress, including side slits, working 3 sc in each corner.
