SIZE: 54 x 88 inches.

MATERIALS: Mercerized crochet cotton no. 20, ecru, 5280 yds.

Steel =act book US size 9 or SIZE FOR GAUGE. 

GAUGE: 4" square = 14 meshes (in tr) and 9 rows. To obtain tablecloth ca. 67 ½ x 112", use pearl crochet cotton no. 5 and steel hook US size 7. 

To MAKE: Beg at center, ch 358 + 4 to turn (= first tr throughout).

RND 1: tr + 2 ch + 1 tr in 5th st from hook, work ** 2 ch, sk next 2 sts, 1 tr in next St ** 119 times, 2 ch, (2 tr in same st as last st, 2 ch) twice, 1 tr in same st as last sts, work from ** to ** 119 times, end with 2 ch, 2 tr in same st as last st, 2 ch: close with sl st in top of ch 4 throughout.  

RND 2: 4 ch, 1 tr in same sp as closing sl st, 1 tr in next st, work ** 2 ch, 1 tr in next tr ** 121 times, 2 tr in next st, 2 ch, 1 tr in end ch lp, 2 ch, 2 tr in next tr: 1 tr in next st, work from ** to ** 121 times, 2 tr in next st, 2 ch, 1 tr in end ch lp, 2 ch. diagram 1

RNDS 3-23: Work following Diagram 1, inc at each end to corresp as shown. As of rnd 22, work 2 sl sts at beg of each rnd to start new rnd in ch lp of first sh.

RNDS 24-71: Work following Diagram 2.

On rnd 24, work 5 sh-bet sh of rounded ends and 4 sh on straight edges: as of this rnd, ch 3 (instead of 2) for sh.

On rnd 45, start pineapples: work (1sh, 3 ch, 5 tr in next sh ch lp 3 ch) around.

On next 5 rounds work 6 ch bet sh and bet pineapples, work ch-5 lps to form Pineapples.

On rnd 56, work (1sh, 5 tr in next sh ch lp, 1 sh) around.

On rnd. 57-59, work *1 sh, 1tr + 3sh + 1tr in 3^rd tr of 5 tr grp

on rnd 57: in ch 3 lp on next rnds), 1sh, rep from * around.

On rnd 60, work * 1 sh, 1 tr + 3 ch + 1 tr in next ch lp, 2 sh, 5 tr in next ch lp, 1 sh, rep from * around.

Cont with pineapples as before, on rnd 65 start one pineapple bet each 2 pineapples below. At end of rnd 71, fasten off (black wedge).
