Girl's easy vest
Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "STAR" PEARL COTTON, ARTICLE 90, SIZE 5
7--50 yd. Bails Yellow or any Color desired.
Steel Crochet Hook No. 4 or No. 5.
With 2 strands of thread ch 3, join to form a ring, ch 2 and work 6 s d c in ring (s d c thread over; insert needle in st, pull loop through, thread over and pull through all loops on needle). Do not join or turn rounds.
2nd Round. 2 s d c in each s d c, mark the beginning of each round.
3rd Round. * 1 s d c in next s d c, 2 s d c in next s d c, repeat from * 5 times.
4th Round, * 1 s d c in each of the next 2 s d c, 2 s d c in next s d c, repeat from * 5 times.
5th Round. * 1 s d c in each of the next 3 s d c, 2 s d c in next s d c, repeat from * 5 times.
Work 16 more rounds in same manner having 1 more s d c between increasing points in each round.
Work 1 round even.
23th Round. Increase in every 21st s d c, then work 1 round even.
25th Round. Increase in every 22nd s d c, then work 1 round even.
27th Round. Increase in every 23rd s d c, then work 3 rounds even.
31st Round. * 1 S d c in each of the next 22 s d c, decrease 1 st (decrease; insert needle in next st, pull loop through, insert needle in next st, pull loop through, thread over and pull through all loops on needle). Repeat from * 5 Times.
Work 4 more rounds decreasing 6 times in each round having 1 less st between decreasing points in each round.
36th Round. Working in back loop of st only work 1 s d c n each s d c.
37th to 40th Rounds. Working in both loops, 1 s d c in each d c, break thread.
Tassel. Over a 5 ½ inch cardboard wind thread 75 times, at one end and tie through center, leaving a 3 inch thread at top.
CAP FOR TASSEL. With single thread, ch 4, join to form a ring, ch 2 and work 8 s d c in ring. Do not join or turn rounds.
2nd Round. * 1 s d c in next s d c, 2 s d c in next s d c, repeat from * 3 times then work 4 rounds of s d c even, work round of s c, break thread.
Draw thread of tassel through cap and attach to hat as illustrated.
