Crochet bags for many Purposes

Practical crocheted Bag 

MATERIALS: 2 balls THE AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY'S Article 30 "Silkine" Crochet Mercerized Cotton size 30, 1yard ribbon 5 inches wide, 2 yards ribbon ½ inch wide, 1 skein Article 40 for French knots, crochet hook size 10. 

lst Row: Chain (ch) 32, 1 double crochet (dc) in 5th stitch (St) skip 4 sts, shell (sh) of 3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in next St, skip 3 (1 dc, 2 ch, 1 dc forming a.V in next, skip 2) 6 times, skip 3 sh in last St, ch 5, turn.

2nd Row: Sh in sh, (V in V) 6 times, sh in sh, 1 dc in lst dc of last Row, ch 4, turn.

3rd Row: Dc in dc, sh in sh, (V, in V) 6 times, sh in sh, V under 5 ch, l' dc in same, ch 5, turn

.4th Row: V in V, V in 1st dc of sh, sh in sh, (V in V) 6 times, sh in sh, 1 dc in last dc, ch 4, turn.

5th Row: Like 3rd to last sh, (V in V) twice, V under 5 ch, ch 1, 1 dc, under same, ch 5, turn.

6th Row: (V in V) 3 times, V in lst dc of sh, sh in sh, (V in V) 6 times, sh in sh, 1 dc in last dc, ch 4, turn.

7th Row: Like 3rd to last sh, (V in V) 4 times, V under 5 ch, ch 1, 1 dc in same, ch 5, turn.

8th Row: (V in V) 5 times, V in lst dc of sh, sh in sh, (V in V), 6 times, sh in sh, 1 dc in last dc, ch 4, turn.

9th Row: Like 3rd to last sh, (V inV) 6 times, ch 1, 1 dc under 5 ch, ch 5, turn.

10th Row: Ch 5, (Vin V) 6 times V in lst dc of sh, sh in sh, (V in V) 6 times, sh in sh, 1 dc in last dc, ch 4, turn.

llth Row: Like 3rd to last sh, ch 5, turn.

Repeat from 2nd Row, making 12 points in all.

In last Row after making the last V in point, join the last to the 1st Row as follows:-3 dc in sh, ch 1, catch in center of back of sh in lst Row, ch 1,.3 dc in sh, (1 dc in V, ch 1, catch in back of corresponding V of 1st Row, ch 1, 1 dc in V) 6 times, work last ch same as lst and finish with 1 dc, fasten off.

To finish lower edge, join thread in 1st 5 ch loop below last sh of last Row, 1 single crochet (sc) in loop, (5 dc, 1 sc in next loop) 7 times, 10 dc, 1 sc in loop at point, (5 dc in V, 1 sc in space between), 7 times, 1 sc in 1st loop on next point, repeat around the other eleven points.

HEADLNG: join thread in one of the 4 ch loops, ch 5, 1 (double treble (d t) in same place (for d t put thread over hook 3 times) (ch 5, 2 d t under next 4 ch), repeat and join.

2nd Row: Ch 5, 1 dc in 3rd of 5 ch, ch 2, 1 dc over 2 d t group, ch 2, repeat, join.

3rd Row: Slip st under 2 ch, sh under same ch, making 3 ch for 1st dc, skip 1 space, V in each of next 3 spaces, skip 1 space, sh in next, repeat, join.

4th, 5th and 6th Row: Slip st to center of sh, sh in sh (V in V) 3 times, repeat, join.

7th Row: 10 dc in sh, 1 sc in space between sh and V, (5 dc in V, 1 sc in space between) 3 times, repeat, join.

FOR BOTTOM: Ch 5, join, 12 dc in ring, join, 2 dc in each dc, join, 2 dc in lst dc, 1 dc in next repeat and join.

Continue in this way increasing each Row enough so the work will lie flat, until eleven rows are made, then make three rows with 1 dc in each st.

Card board, covered with silk may be fitted into the bottom if desired. Fasten the crochet work to wide ribbon by French Knots around the points.

Work Bag

MATERIALS REQUIRED: 1 ball THE AMERICAN THREADCOMPANY'S Article 30 "Silkine" Crochet size 30, 1/3 yard ribbon 7 inches wide, 4 small button moulds, crochet hook No. 10.

Make a Row of single crochet (sc) around sides and across top of bag, putting stitches as closely as possible.1 double crochet (dc) in 3rd sc, chain (ch) 3, 3 dc over side of dc just made, skip 2 sc, 1 sc in next, repeat around.

For straps: ch 5, join, ch 5, 3 dc in ring, ch 2, 1 dc in same place, ch 5, turn, 3 dc under 2 ch, ch 2, 1 dc in same place, ch 5, turn.

Repeat 52 times.

Fasten thread into 5 ch loop, ch 5, 1 sc in next 5 ch loop, repeat and turn, 1 sc in each st, turn, 1 dc in 3rd sc, ch 3, 3 dc over side of dc, skip 2, 1 sc in next, repeat. Finish the other side of strap in the same way.Cover button moulds with pieces of the ribbon.

Make the tassel by winding thread 50 times around a cardboard 2 ¼ inches wide.

Bag in Paisley in Filet Crochet    

This bag is crocheted in article 30 "Silkine" crochet cotton, size 70 Ecru. It is put together by single crochet.

The top is finished with a Shell edge-but any desired finish may be used.

The twisted cord is finished with tassels is made from the crocheted cotton and a tassel of larger size attached to the point at the bottom of the bag adds to its attractiveness.

The bag is lined with bright colored satin and shows the design with good effect. Diagram 

Filet Crochet Bag Combines With Dressden Ribbon 

 

This bag requires twenty-four inches of six and one half inch Dresden ribbon and the filet crochet is done in Article 30 "Silkine" Crochet 'Cotton, size 70 blue.

The bag is put together by means of single crochet with picot.Make a beading of filet with picot edge through which to run the twisted cord, and sew beading to bag at the foot of the inch heading.

A tassel is attached to the point at the bottom of the bag.

The Fan Bag   

Made of Article 30 "Silkine" Crochet Cotton, size 70 in blue or pink.  Diagram
