Casserole Dish Holder           Convert this to knit

Casserole dish holder was made with about three 70-yard skeins
Main Color and 1 skein (70 yards) Contrasting Color heavy rug yarn and Susan Bates aluminum crochet hook size 1.

 Abbreviations:
 ch (chain) inc (increase)
 sc (single crochet) doc (decrease)
 lp (loop) at (stitch)
 Mc (Main Color) CC (Contrasting Color)

Gauge: 3 SC equal 1 inch
Holder.  With MC, ch 6 for tip.  Work 2 sc in second ch from hook,  sc in next 3 chs, 2 sc in last ch-7 scs, end each Row with ch 1, turn.

Row 1: Working through both lps at once, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across to last st, 2 sc in last st-9 scs.

Row 2: SC across, inc 1 st in first and last sts-11 scs.

Row 3: SC in each sc.

Row 4: Repeat Row 2-13 scs.

Next 8 Rows: SC in each st-about 4 ¼ inches.

Shape Thumb: Ch 7 at beginning of next Row, turn, sc in second  ch from hook and in each sc across.

Row 1: SC to last st, 2 sc in last st (an inc).

Row 2: 2 SC in first sc and sc in each sc across.

Row 3: Repeat Row 1-22 scs across.

Work 1 Row even.

Next Row: Sc across to last 2 sts, dec 1 st at thumb edge.

Repeat last 2 rows until 15 sts re-main, end on straight edge, place marker.

Work 15 sts even until piece measures 15 inches from marker, end on straight edge.

Row 1: Sc across, inc 1 st in last st-16 sts.

Row 2: Work 1 Row even.

Repeat these 2 rows until 22 sts across, end after a Row 2.

Next Row: Sc across to last 2 sts, work 2 sts together.

Work first 2 sts of next Row together, sc across.

Make 1 more dec at end of next Row-19 sts.

Work 1 Row even, end at straight edge.

Next Row: Work across to last 6 sts, ch 1, turn.

Work these 13 sts for 8 rows.

Dec 1 st each end of next Row.

Work 1 Row even.

Dec 1 st at each end of every Row until 5 sts remain, fasten off.

Stripe Hand Pocket- (Make 2) : 

Work same as palm side of holder,
beginning with MC and working 2 rows MC, 2 rows CC until 15 sts remain (piece measures just above wrist from start), end CC stripe, fasten off.

Sew stripe hand pocket to palm side of holder.

Hanging Loop: With CC, ch 15.  Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across, fasten off.

Sew loop to center of holder as illustrated.
