    J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A.64: 1 ball Each of No. 43 Dk, Yellow, No. 48 Hunter's Green, No. 18-A Shaded Purples and No. 1 White; and J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN" METALLIC, Art. A.64: 4 balls of No. M.49 Chartreuse Green; or

CLARK'S O.N.T. MERCERIZED BEDSPREAD COTTON, Art.B.504: 1 ball each of 4 desired colors and 3 balls of 1 main color for basket.

Chair Back measures 11 x 17 inches and each Arm Piece measures 7 x 11 inches.

CHAIR BACK . . . Starting at bottom with Chartreuse Green, ch 29.

lst Row: 2 tr in 5th ch front hook, 2 tr in next ch, tr in each ch across to within last 2 ch. 2 tr in next ch, 3 tr in last ch. Ch 4, turn.

2nd Row: 4 tr in first tr (shell made). * skip 4 tr. 5 tr in next tr (another shell made). Repeat from * across, ending with 5 tr in top of turning chain. Turn.

3rd Row: Sl st to center tr of first shell, ch 4, shell in same place, * ch 1, shell in center tr of next shell. Repeat front * across. Turn.

4th to 9th rows inc.: Work as for 3rd Row, having 1 ch more between shells on each Row (7 ch on 9th Row).

10th Row: Sl st to center it of next shell, ch 4, 6 tr in same place, * ch 7, 7 tr shell in center tr of next shell. Repeat from * across. Ch 1. turn.

11th Row: Sc in first tr, skip 2 tr. 7 tr shell in next tr, * in next sp make sc, ch 7 and sc: shell in center tr of next shell. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn.

12th Row: 3 tr in first sc, sc in center tr of next shell, * shell in next sc, sc in next loop, shell in next sc, sc in center tr of next shell. Repeat from * across, ending with 4 tr in first sc. Ch 1, turn.

13th Row: Sc in first tr. * shell in next sc, sc in center tr of next shell. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn.

14th Row: 3 tr in first sc, * sc in center tr of next shell, shell in next sc. Repeat from * across, ending with 4 tr in last sc. Ch 1, turn.

15th and 16th rows: Repeat 13th and 14th rows.

17th Row: Sc in first tr. * ch 9, sc in center tr of next shell. Repeat from * across. ending with sc in top of turning chain. Ch 9.turn.

18th Row: * Sc in next loop, ch 9. Repeat from * across, ending with sc in last loop. ch 5, tr in last sc. Ch 9, turn.

19th Row: Skip first sp, * sc in next loop. ch 9. Repeat from * across ending with ch 9, skip 5 ch, sc in next ch. Break off.

BASE . . . 1st Row: Attach thread to opposite side of starting chain, sc in each ch across (25 sc), Ch 5. turn.

2nd Row: Skip first 2 sc, tr in next sc, * ch 1. Skip 1 sc, tr in next sc. Repeat from * across. Ch 1. turn.

3rd Row: Sc in first tr. (2 sc in next sp, sc in next tr) twice; sc in each sp and in each tr across to within last 2 sps. 2 sc in next sp. sc in next tr, 2 sc in last sp. sc in 4th ch of ch-5 (29 sc). Ch 4, turn.

4th Row: Tr in first sc, 2 tr in next sc. tr in each sc across to within last 2 sc, 2 tr in each of last 2 sc. Ch 4. turn.

5th Row: 4 tr in first tr, * skip 3 tr, 5 tr in next tr. Repeat from * across ending with 5 tr in top of turning chain. Break off. 

HANDLE . Starting at narrow edge, ch 13.

1st Row: 3 tr in 5th ch from hook, skip 3 ch. sc in next ch, skip 3 ch, 4 tr in next ch. Ch 1. turn.

2nd Row: Sc in first tr, 7 tr in sc, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn.

3rd Row: 3 tr in first sc, sc in center tr of shell, 4 tr in next sc. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 18 inches. Break off.

FLOWER . . . Starting at center with white, ch 3.

lst rnd: 10 half dc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in first half dc. Break off.

2nd rnd: Attach Yellow to any half dc, * ch 3, in same half dc make dc, 3 tr, dc, ch 3 and sl st, sl st in next half dc. Repeat from * around. Join and break off. Make15 more Yellow flowers and 20 flowers with yellow centers and Shaded Purple petals.

LEAF (Make 23) . . . Starting at center with Hunter's Green, ch 20.

1st rnd: Sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, half dc in next ch, dc in next ch, 2 dc in next 3 ch, 5 tr in next ch, ch 5, sl st in same ch, ch 5: working along opposite side of starting chain make 5 tr at base of last 5 tr, 2 dc in next 3 ch, dc in next ch, half dc in next ch, sc in next ch, sl st in next ch. Break off.

Sew Handle to Basket. Sew Flowers and Leaves in place.

ARM PIECE (Make 2) . . . Work exactly as for Chair Back until 12 rows have been completed. Break off.

Work base the same way.

HANDLE . . . Starting at narrow edge, ch 11.

1 st Row: 2 tr in 5th ch from hook, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch, skip 2 ch, 3 tr in next ch. Ch 1, turn.

2nd Row: Sc in first tr, 5 tr in sc, sc in top of turning chain. Ch 4, turn.

3rd Row: 2 tr in first sc. sc in center tr of shell, 3 tr in next sc. Ch 1, turn.

Repeat 2nd and 3rd rows alternately until piece measures 14 inches. Break off. Make 7 Yellow Flowers, 8 Shaded Purple Flowers and 10 Leaves. Complete as for Chair Back. Block to measurements.
