Criss-cross Jacket - easy to knit

  Exchange to Crochet

SIZES: Misses small (medium - large).  

Garment width around underarms, about 33½" (37"- 41").  

MATERIALS: Bulky knitting worsted. 8 (9- 10) oz. each light blue (A), and navy (C), 10 (11-12) ozs. medium blue (B), 4 (5 - 6) ozs. each orange (D), and rust (E),  

Knitting needles No.10 and No.11 or size required to knit to gauge.

GAUGE: 13 sts = 4"; 28 rows = 4".  

  

PATTERN STITCH: Multiple of 2 sts.  

Row 1: (right side): * K 1, K 1 in row below *; (this unravels the st above) repeat from * to * across.  

Row 2: Wwith right hand needle K the thread from unraveled st of previous row with the next st above it, k 1 repeat from * to *across.  

Row 3: * K 1 in row below, K 1; repeat from * across.  

Row 4: * K 1, knit the next st as for row 2. Repeat from * across.    

Repeat Rows 1 thru 4 for pat St.  

NOTE: Cut and join yarn as needed.  

BACK: With No. 10 needles and C, cast on 54 (60 - 66) sts.  

Next Row (wrong side): K, keeping 1 st  at each edge in stockinette st for seam  st work in pat st in the following color sequence: 3" color C, 3"color B, 3" color A, 3" color B, 3" color C, 3" color B, 3" color A, 3" color B, 2 rows color C, 2 rows color B, 2 rows color A, 2 rows color E, 2 rows color D, 2 rows color E, 2 rows color A, 2 rows color B,. 2 rows color C.  

For medium size only: 2 rows color B, 2 rows color A.  

For large size only: 2 rows color B, 2 rows color A, 2 rows color E, 2 rows color D.  

For all sizes: Bind off all sts for neck and shoulders.  

RIGHT FRONT; With No. 10 needles and C cast on 38 (40 - 42) sts. Work insame pat and color sequence as on back. Work until 2nd color B band is completed. Continue in pat and color sequence dec 1 st at end of every wrong side row for neck shaping 24 (25 - 26) limes - 14 (15- 16) sts.  

Continue until same length as back. Bind off all sts.  

LEFT FRONT: Work to correspond to Right Front, reversing shaping.

Note: Dec for neck shaping at beg of wrong side Row.  

SLEEVES: With No. 10 needles and D, cast on 54 (56 - 58) sts.  

Row 1 (wrong side): K, Work in pat with D for 2 rows. Continue in pat st in the following color sequence: 3" color C, 3" color B, 3" color A, 3" color B, 3" color C.  

At the same time, at end of first color B stripe dec 1 st each edge, then every 6 rows 5 times more - 42 (44 - 46) sts. At the end of the 2nd color B stripe inc 1 st each edge, then every 4 rows 3 times more - 50 (52 - 54) sts. After 2nd  color C stripe has been completed, continue in pal st working 2 rows color B, 2 rows color A, 2 rows color E, 2 rows color D, 2 rows color E, 2 rows color A, 2 rows color B, 2 rows color C. 2 rows color B, 2 rows color A, 2 rows color B,. then work in garter st   (k every Row) 3 rows color D. For medium size only: Work 3 rows color E in garter st.  

For large size only: Work 3 rows color E, 3 rows color A, in garter st.  

For all sizes: Bind off all sts.  

BELT: With 2 strands of C held tog and No. 11 needles, cast on 12 sts.

Next Row (wrong side): Sl 1, k,. Work in pat st,. sl 1 at beg of Row, keeping last st in stockinette st for 8 rows.  

Then continue in twisted K 1, p 1, ribbing working in back of every k st until 31" from beg.

Change to color B. Continue in twisted k 1, p 1, and ribbing until 63" from beg. Work in pat st for Brows. Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder seams. Sew sleeves in place, centering at shoulder seam. Sew side and sleeve.

Front Border: With No. 10 needles and D, cast on 8 sts, Work in twisted k 1, p 1 ribbing until border reaches from lower edge up left front, around neck, then down to lower edge, Bind off, Sew on border.
