Booties  Baby Knitted

These  can be made with the following:

"DAWN" MEDIUM WEIGHT POMPADOUR or "DAWN" NYLON or NYLON POMPADOUR or "DAWN" INFANTS WOOL

1 oz. each White and Baby Blue or colors desired.  1 pr. knitting needles No. 2.
Steel crochet hook No. 6.
2 small buttons.

GAUGE: 8 sts = 1 inch.
With Blue cast on 42 sts, K 1 Row.

2nd Row.  K 1, increase in next st, K 17, increase in next st, K 2, increase in next st, K 17, increase in next st, K 1 (46 sts).

3rd Row.  K across row.

4th Row.  K 1, increase in next st, K 19, increase in next st, K 2, increase in next st, K 19, increase in next st, K 1 (50 sts).

5th Row.  K across row.

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times, having 2 sts more after 1st and after 3rd increase in each increasing row (66 sts on needle).

14th Row. * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row.

15th Row.  K across row.

Repeat last 2 rows 4 times.

24th Row.  K across row.

25th Row.  K 28, sl 1, K 1, psso., sl 1, K 1, psso, K 2, K 2 tog, K 2 tog, K 28.

26th Row.  P across row.

Repeat the last 2 rows 4 times, having 2 sts less before the lst and after the last decrease in each decreasing row (46 sts on needle).

 P 1 row, cut Blue.

With White work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 1 ½  inches, bind off, cut White.

Sew back seam.

Strap.  With Blue cast on 48 sts, K 1 Row.

Next Row.  K 2, bind off 2 sts for buttonhole, K to end of row.

Next Row.  K across row casting on 2 sts over the bound off sts.

Next Row.  K across, bind off, cut yarn.

Sew strap to last row of Blue of Bootie leaving 16 sts free across instep. 

Sew button in position.

With Blue work a row of sc around 12th row of sole, cut yarn.
